    My week so far

    Hello Friends!
    Kim Here-
Well a few days ago, I told you I would tell you all about our Saturday.  As most of you know the Biggest Loser is doing the Biggest Loser Tour and lo and behold, they came to Wichita.  Now that is just Wichita wants to be known for.  One of the BIGGEST CITIES!  Well, of course, the only thing Wichita has to offer is DINING OUT.  Anyway they were to be here Saturday and Sunday from 11-5 and not knowing what to expect, we were at the mall by 9:30 and we were 10th in line.  JULIE 1st runner up and JIM 100K winner were both there to encourage and answer any questions we might have.  We received all kinds of free goodies too to help us stay motivated.  JULIE LOOKS GREAT!  JIM looks alot better than he did on the finale.  I thought he looked sick on the finale and it looked like he put a little bit back on but still looked great.  By the way, I think I got a compliment, Julie thought I looked alot like Lezlee and Jim said there was a resemblence.  I showed my kids a picture of Lezlee on the website and they said a little bit.  I took my camera but my rechargeable batteries must no longer be holding a charge as I was only able to take a couple of pictures.  However I am waiting for the pictures to be posted on the website, which they say 24-72 hours and we are past that, and I will put them on our page.    We both went to the Y and worked out on Saturday and Sunday and believe it or not, I didn't die.  Thought I was going to, but didn't.  I actually felt pretty good.  Stephanie and I weigh in on Sundays to watch our progress and I was down 3 pounds.  Not bad since I really didn't do anything.  Worked out 2 days and went from REGULAR COKE to either diet or water.
We were supposed to go to the gym Wed - Sun and it just hasn't worked for me this week.  My youngest has had a fever since last Thursday that comes and goes and on Sat.  he had swelling testicles.  I know guys, ouch!!  Anyway, took him to the Dr on Monday, diagnosed with "hernias" on both sides or hydrocil (spelling) fluid draining into them.  Fever never left and took him to the Dr today and thought he had appendicitis.  He doesn't though.  Thank Goodness.  I also came down with a GOOD OLE SINUS INFECTION.  As of now and hopefully by Sunday I am down about 5 pounds.  I guess that happens when you don't eat, huh?? Anyway, that is my excitement for the week.  I hope all of my LITTLE PHAT PHRENZ have a GREAT week.

Starting off on the right track!

Well so far this week has been good for me. I started working out at the gym on saturday. Kim and I went saturday and sunday. Our plan is to workout 5 times per week. I have also been doing the big loser cardio workout cd on the days that I do not workout. So this week has definately been challenging to me, yet very rewarding. I have been so energetic lateley, more so now than ever in the past. I feel good about myself. I am proud of the new changes in my life that i am willing to make. We will succeed! I know this because our hearts are in this. Everyone watch out because here we come! Good night to all of our friends. We can all do this together, YEAH!!!

    Kim and Stephanie's adventure

    Ok--
    Kim here~~
Where do I begin.  I am a huge BIGGEST LOSER fan.  When the episode of the COUPLES aired and they made the challenge to committ at home I was very excited.  I got on the phone and asked my mom if she would be interested.  Needless to say she wasn't sure about that.  I called my former neighbor Stephanie and we played phone tag for a couple days and filled her in on what I knew was to take place.  Stephanie and I decided last May to start going to the YMCA and "GET BUSY" losing weight.  Well with her having 3 kids, me having 2, school was about to get out, our GETTING BUSY got put on hold between our to schedules.  Well, Stephanie was all for it as long as nobody saw our "PHAT" pictures.  We call each other "My little PHAT PHREND" (Fat Friend).  PH just looks cuter~
As I said earlier, we were neighbors and she has now moved to a suburb of Wichita but, that hasn't changed our plans for 2008.  She came over on Sunday the 13th and we took PHAT pictures and took our measurements and weighed ourselves.  Stephanie must be pretty special as she got to see all the massiveness ( i don't know if that is even a word) of my body and take daring pictures and see my actual weight.  We truly have to trust each other.  Our plan is to go to the gym 5 days a week, Wed - Sun.  I know that seems so odd but the beginning of the week EVERYBODY is there and by the end of the week, it starts to taper off.

The way we are going to stay motivated is first of all there are 2 of us involved and we just don't want to let the other one down.  Another thing is we are going to "pretend" that Bob, Jillian and Kim are riding our butts.  Telling us that we are worth it and it won't kill us.  (I hope it won't anyway)

In our brutally honest measuring/weigh in session this is what we found out.

Stephanie is 5 foot and weighed in at 140.
    Arms were 12
    Chest was 38
    Waist was 33
    Hips were 42
    Thighs were 24

I am 5' 6" and weighed in at 203 (I can't believe I am putting this in here)  UUGGHH!
    Arms were 13.5
    Chest was 44.5
    Waist was 42
    Hips were 49
    and get this.....
My right thigh is 26.5 and my left one is 24.5.   YES... this is true we measured 3 times.

Anyway, this is some scary things.  I will close for now and let you know what we did earlier today.  WE HAD A BLAST, at least I did!

Good Night my little PHAT PHRENZ!

    I deserve better!

    Hello~
My name is Kim and I am about to be 37!  I have been married for over 11 years and have 2 "perfect" boys.  Trenton is 9 and Trevor is 6.  When I got married back in 1996, I "thought" I was fat.  If I only knew how big I would get, I never would have thought that.  Two years later, I gave birth to Trenton nearly 3 months early.  I lost that weight almost immediately, however, I didn't gain a whole lot to begin with.  When he was about a year, I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid.  I was tired all the time and gradually started to gain weight.  I was put on medication to supplement my thyroid and it seemed to help a little bit.  A year or so later I had Trevor and I was at my biggest weight, however I only gained 15 pounds with him.  By the time I went back to work I had lost a total of 33 pounds which was great.  I was at my pre-pregnancy weight before I had Trenton.  In the meantime, I was out of the habit of taking my thyroid medication and the weight came back on.  I have finally decided that it needs to be ALL ABOUT ME for a little while and I need to take care of my self.  I need to put myself first for once.  I am excited about this journey that I am about to take on.  I plan to log on daily to keep you updated with my ups and downs.

    God Bless~~

making my life what it ought to have been all these years

Well where do I start? my name is Stephanie. I am a thirty year old woman with three beautiful children. I am very excited to say that I married my high school sweetheart and we are still together today. Yes, fifteen years and still counting.

The reason this weight loss challenge is so important to me is because I have been through so much during the past several years. Just to be able to be part of this fantastic adventure is a miracle in my eyes.

It all started four years ago. I was eight months pregnant with my youngest son and I become very sick. My sickness became something so horrific that it turned into Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome, which is a disease in which one cannot breathe room temperature. I was on full oxygen through my mouth and nose, yet still strived to breathe. My kidneys, lungs, and liver were all failing. They wanted to put me on life support, yet I resisted. I wanted to fight as long as my tender body would let me. I knew that after signing power of attorneys and requesting my last wish to be that my request of donating my organs be carried out that I had to fully concentrate on trying to survive.

As if that wasn’t enough during my few weeks in the hospital many more testing times occurred. My son came a month early. Luckily, he was healthy. It was just so difficult to deliver a child with an oxygen level that was nearly nonexistent. I also broke out in a rash throughout my body due to a medicine. My body swelled up because my organs were failing, and I received a blood clot behind my knee. Because of god being on my side and my supportive and loving family I surpassed it all.

After all of that I was doing quite well for awhile; however, in 2006 while working at an elementary school I had a seizure. Every since then I have had a difficult time. Many times I just don’t feel right. I have had dizzy spells, slurred speech, forgetfulness, and fatigue just to name a few. I have been to physicians many times. They have run numerous test from blood work, diabetes, blood pressure and urine test. I was even sent to a cardiologist.

A few months ago I had two more seizures. Finally, the doctors began to listen. They ran an EEG, which came back normal. They also ran an MRI. Unfortunately, the MRI showed an abnormal spot on the posterior part of my brain. I will soon be seen by a neurologist to try and figure this all out. In the meantime the anti seizure medicine has made me feel better than I have in years.

I know that this whole experience that I had to endure was all for a purpose. I also know that it is up to me as well as the physicians to make me the healthiest possible. I am pledging to eat healthier, workout, and to keep a possitive attitude. I don’t want to just improve the way that my body looks and feels, but to improve my mind as well.

My family means the world to me. I would like to stick around to see my children grow. This is my chance to live my life to the fullest and I intend to do just that, so here I go!
